FAQ
Questions I get asked standing in a parking lot
Are you the official operator?
No. This is an independent planning guide. It is not affiliated with any lift or attraction operator. I used to interpret for Parks Canada. I do not work a ticket window.
Can I get tickets here?
No. We do not sell tickets. There is no checkout on this site. Tickets are handled by the operator. If a page here looks like a shop, it is a mistake — write to [email protected].
What if I came from an advertisement?
You are still on an independent site. Read the Privacy Policy. Ads do not make this the box office.
Is the cabin open-air?
No. The gondola is enclosed glass. That does not make the ridge warm. Take a layer anyway.
How long is the ride?
About eight minutes each way in the cabin. Plan far more than that on the ridge if the boardwalk is open and you have knees for it.
How high is the summit?
2,281 metres at Sanson Peak. The air is thinner. The wind is not a rumour.
Is the boardwalk suitable for everyone?
No. It is stairs on a ridge. Ice in winter. Wind in every season. If stairs are a problem, stay on the upper deck and look. That is still a view.
What if it is cloudy?
You ride into cloud. The ticket is still used. I cannot refund weather. Neither can a website.
Do I need a layer in July?
Yes. Banff can be warm at the river. The summit is not the river.
Can I park at the base?
Sometimes. In peak summer, often not. Use the shuttle from town and protect your timed slot.
Is the restaurant worth it?
It is a restaurant on a mountain. The food is fine. The bill is mountain. Pack a bar if you are counting.
When does the line close for work?
Often in November. Confirm dates with the operator. Do not believe last year’s rumour.
